Having worked thirty years and more in England, my husband and I know the stress of life in the fast lane, of making ends meet, of trying to be all things to everyone and being too tired to identify the part we play for ourselves in our own life.
After my first published piece of a letter The Viewer in 1960 at the age of only seven, I worked my way through life and became a late returner to writing in my forties. But life still got in the way. And that’s why, in 2006, we found a bolthole in the north-west area of Spain. Known as Green Spain, and often referred to as’ the land of a thousand rivers’, finding Spain’s answer to the Lake District in England ticked all of the boxes for escaping it all.
I am not making myself out to be a big star in the writing world. I have written for several UK and US magazines (Living Spain, Mature Times , The Best of British and The Coal Magazine), had a monthly column in a local newspaper for three years and have written for several websites. I also have quite a few non-fiction books and information booklets up on Amazon Kindle (all under the name of Dee Watson). My working life and interests in the UK allow me to write with confidence about health and disabilities, hearing loss, British sign language, counselling and healthy eating. I have written for others via the Upwork website and do frequent work as an editor and proofreader for writers and PhD students from different countries. I enjoy the challenge of helping non-native writers of English to bring their words up to an educated, native, English level.
I understand the needs of a writer and my husband and I wish to make our place available to those who can’t find any escape time within their own homes.
Please feel free to run anything by me, as to how our peaceful place could work for you.
